What are the Pro's and Con's?

Private Sales are on the increase, but there are pitfalls in buying privately. There is an old saying but very true, and that is when you buy from a Private Sale you have a 1 - 2 Guarentee... "Once you buy it's too Late". There are laws that protect consumers buying from a licensed dealer. There is a statutory warranty in many cases at least, when buying privately there is not.

Many people believe that they can get more for their money buying privately, but the trend out in the market place is private sellers are getting greedy, and wanting to get the same price as you would find in a dealership anyway.

Here are some things to look out for:

• What is the market value for the car or boat? i.e. What's it really worth?
• Do I know the mechanical history of the car or boat? or can I get o
• Can I purchase a warranty for additional protection
• Is the item encumberred?
